Echoing Green

Since 1987, Echoing Green has provided seed funding and support nearly 500 social entrepreneurs with bold ideas for social change in order to launch groundbreaking organizations around the world. Echoing Green is a social venture capitalist organization, and like some venture capital firms, they consider themselves active investors—not just providing funding, but also helping their social entrepreneurs achieve their maximum potential through a range of support services, including training, networking opportunities, consulting, and championing. Medic co-founders Isaac Holeman and Josh Nesbit became Echoing Green fellows in June 2010.

Netsquared supports innovative technology for social change. They foster monthly face-to-face meetups for social innovators in 25 cities around the globe, have incubated hundreds of social action projects in various stages of development, they provide a platform for cross-sector collaboration at, and they have awarded over $240,000 in financial support through prized-based Challenges. In May 2009 Netsquared hosted their fourth annual conference, focusing on the use of mobile devices for social change. In a world that is increasingly interrelated, the Compton Foundation seeks to foster human and ecological security by addressing contemporary threats to these inalienable rights. The Compton Mentor Fellowship Program is the Foundation’s newest fellowship program; they are currently supporting Clinical Programs Director Isaac Holeman’s work with FrontlineSMS:Medic in 2009-2010.



FrontlineSMS is a free, large scale text messaging solution for NGOs and non-profit organizations. It allows you to text message with large groups of people anywhere there is a mobile signal. The FrontlineSMS software is the centerpiece of our work and although FrontlineSMS:Medic is an independent organization, we gave worked very closely with the FrontlineSMS team from day one.



OpenMRS is a community-developed, open source, enterprise electronic medical record system platform created and supported by a global community with the mission to improve health care delivery in resource-constrained environments. Medic Mobile is proud to be part of this global network, contributing code (particularly the Messaging Module) as well as implementing the software.
